A Café Inspired by the Outdoors.
Set in the heart of Wānaka, Scroggin Café is more than just a place to grab coffee — it’s a destination where adventure meets hospitality. Whether you’re fresh off the ski slopes or relaxing after a paddle on the lake, this café is designed as a gathering place to share stories, refuel, and soak in the alpine energy of its lakeside town.
Natural Textures and a Calming Palette.
Inside, the café’s plywood-lined walls and calming neutrals create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Layers of timber bring texture and depth, echoing Wānaka’s earthy, natural surroundings. The design strikes a balance between understated and inviting — a setting that encourages visitors to linger a little longer, surrounded by friends, family, and community.

Furniture That Complements the Space.
To bring the design vision to life, Cintesi supplied a carefully curated range of furniture. The Icho timber dining chair in natural provides the perfect balance of comfort and practicality. As a stackable café chair, it’s ideal for a busy, flexible hospitality space. Paired with birch ply table tops, the look is clean, modern, and timeless. At the centre, Britta leaners are matched with Albert timber stools in natural oak, offering casual elevated seating that complements the café’s timber-rich palette. Together, these pieces seamlessly blend durability, flexibility, and design integrity.
The Heart Behind Scroggin.
Scroggin Café is the creation of pastry chef Lucy Conway, whose journey from corporate law to hospitality is fuelled by her love of adventure and community. With everything made from scratch daily, the café reflects both her passion for food and the spirit of Wānaka itself — a place where nature, people, and good food connect.
