What is the difference between solid oak and birch plywood table tops?
Solid oak is made from genuine oak timber throughout. It is heavier, more expensive, and develops more individual character over time. Birch plywood is a multi-layer engineered wood with a birch veneer face. It has a consistent appearance, is lighter than solid oak, and the layered edge is a recognisable design feature in its own right. Both are quality materials and the right choice depends on your aesthetic and budget.
Can solid wood table tops be used outdoors?
Most solid timber tops are not recommended for permanent outdoor use without specific treatment and protection. Teak and iroko are the exceptions, as their natural oil content provides inherent outdoor resistance. Our solid oak and birch plywood tops are designed for indoor use. If you need an outdoor wood-look surface, our teak and iroko range is the appropriate choice.

Our solid oak range includes 60cm, 70cm, 80cm, and 90cm square formats, round options from 80cm to 120cm diameter, and rectangular tops from 80cm x 60cm to 200cm x 83cm.
