Terrace Airside is no longer operating from Rotorua Airport, but we loved this project so much that we’ve kept it in our archives as a showcase of great design and well-considered furniture.
Located airside at Rotorua Airport, Terrace Airside brought together the ease of travel with the elegance of café design. As part of the airport’s terminal redevelopment, this offshoot of Terrace Kitchen created a welcoming space for travellers to pause, recharge, and enjoy views over the runway and nearby lake.
Designed for Comfort and Flow.
To support its dynamic service needs, Terrace Airside required restaurant furniture that was both stylish and durable. We supplied solid oak table tops, along with Replica Elbow timber dining chairs and Saddle dining stools. Our Stockholm dining tables, in both rectangular and round options, were placed through the centre of the café to create flexible group seating areas that complemented the café’s warm and natural aesthetic.
Elevating the Airport Experience.
Airport cafés call for furniture that performs well under constant use without compromising on comfort. Our seating, made with solid timber frames and quality upholstery, provided ergonomic support for travellers enjoying a coffee, a snack, or a brief meeting. A blend of dining tables and café tables are spread through while a main featured Island bar helped create a space suited to solo travellers, families, and groups.
Creating a Cohesive Aesthetic.
The natural oak grain of the table tops and the soft finishes of the seating were designed to align with the overall palette of polished concrete, neutral tones, and subtle industrial elements. The result was a space that felt calm, cohesive, and inviting.
Although no longer in operation, Terrace Airside remains one of our favourite café fitouts. It’s a great example of how furniture can enhance functionality while supporting the atmosphere of a thoughtfully designed space.
